Wrinkle Control What is the most effective way to counteract wrinkles?
It appears from a variety of articles
that wrinkle control of your skin can be
divided into 4 different categories:
1. Reduce your exposure to environmental
stresses to the skin. Wind, sun, and
harsh work environments where there
are destructive chemicals should be avoided. Among these
chemicals that can cause wrinkling are: first hand tobacco
smoke, chemical processing for industrial
plastics and other petrochemicals,
chemical processing where a variety
of air born chemicals are present, and
chlorine in water. Alcohol is a drying
agent and drink it should be
used sparingly. Wines are better than
distilled products.
2. Personal health can also have a direct
effect on skin health. Exercise, nutritrion,
and rest and relaxation(sleep, meditation,
hobbies, sex, laughter and other stress relievers can be valuable).
3. Heredity is always a factor. This
can be modified by active personal care habits.
4. Skin care products. There are huge
profits to be made from anti-aging
products. Because of this, these products
go to the top of the list leaving at the
bottom the things that will have
the fastest and most important effect
on skin health. Studies in this area
can be biased inorder to sell product.
For instance, lipoic acid is being
promoted lately. There are two forms
of this chemical--the S and R forms.
only the R form alone(without the S
form) seems to be the best. The
actual powder is available and can
be made into creams, but commercially
these products are very expensive.
Your dermatologist, naturpath, and
and your nutritionist can lead you
in specific directions. It is valuable
to do your reading and ask a variety
of professionals for their opinions.
The person at the cosmetic counter
can be a source of information. Take
into this persons sales motivation, and
confirm costly recommendations with
medical practioners.
Keep in mind all your advisors are
only practicing their skills, so more
than perspective is useful. Also,
what works for one person may or may not
work for you.
Like all advice, even this article,
take it with a grain of salt and
check it out with other sources--even
sources that disagree with what you
want to believe. When you do this,
and decide to give products a try,
start by using small amounts and
test. Everybody is different.
Just because it works on one person and
not on you, says nothing about you or your body.
